Have you planned your summer vacation yet? Are you considering taking your family on a cross-border road trip to Oman? Spending a few nights in Saudi Arabia? Qatar? Whether it’s business or pleasure, each country has a wealth of events and activities for you and your family. But before you begin your journey, be sure to apply for your International Driving License (IDL). The IDL is a United Nations convention and a legal requirement. It is an internationally recognized translation of your driving license which allows motorists to drive their vehicles outside of the United Arab Emirates legally, without the need for further tests and applications.
The International Driving License, which is valid for one year, proves that you hold a valid driver’s license in your country of residence. It will also help protect you and your family in the event of accidental vehicle damage while abroad, or the loss of legal identification such as a passport. The IDL is recognized all over the world and is available in 10 different languages in order to help overcome language barriers. The primary function of the IDL is to allow law enforcement and other authorities in other countries to read your license in their own language. Download the information brochure to learn more about IDL.
The IDL application procedure is simple and straightforward. All you need to have are your official identification from an Emirates ID authority distributer, a copy of your valid UAE driving license, and two Passport-size photos.
Advantages
The International Driving License enables travelers and tourists to drive in other countries in a legal and safe way, with ultimate peace of mind without being questioned by authorities or incurring fines.
